one gifset per appearance → national memorial arboretum appeal, st. james’ palace (10/11/2011)
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hosted a black tie reception in aid of the National Memorial Arborteum Appeal. It aimed to raise £12 million to expand the Arboretum in Staffordshire, which is a monument of remembrance to all of those who died for their country. More than 300,000 families, servicemen, veterans and members of the public visit the 150-acre site each year. In his speech, the Duke thanked the 120 guests in attendance and said that donating money to the appeal is their own act of Remembrance. The dinner alone raised £4.2 million.
